- January 2005 | Fransabank upgrades NBS Horizon to full EMV personalization with PayPass
The Fransabank personalization center has been equipped with the NBS Horizon System since September 2004. The system has been upgraded with 12-station smart contact CPE in January 2005 coupled with the UBiQ PersoMaster full EMV personalization solution which includes the Data Preparation, Key Management and Smart Card Issue along with the necessary Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).
With a production capacity of around 1,400 cards per hour and a well trained team, Fransabank was the first bank in the MENA region to successfully launch the MasterCard PayPass Combi Cards (Smart Contact and Contactless Payment Cards) all on the NBS Horizon Solution.
The team members were all trained at Matica System in Italy and PFE in the UK and were able to install the system and go live in a record time of 48 hours. Now the CBoS is able to issue around 1,400 cards per hour including personalization and fulfillment. It is worth mentioning that the Matica ZT10s are already equipped with smart card contact stations and ready for EMV migration whenever the bank decides.
